Events hosted by The Dinner Club Foundation must adhere to our community pillars. Each one is designed to foster community and fight loneliness.
Our Pillars
No Cost To Attend
Events are about people not profit. Chefs donate their time, The Foundation covers their expenses, and guests attend for free. We believe that financial ability should never be a barrier to building community and making new friends in your neighborhood. Unlike other "free" events, there is no "suggested donation" and tipping is not permitted.
Only Locals Are Allowed
Studies have shown that one of the best ways to build and maintain long lasting friendships is through proximity. Guests are more likely to meet up after they have met, if they live closeby. Because of this, events are limited to people who are within a 30 minute walk of each other.
Chefs Have Complete Freedom
The participation of amazing chefs is KEY to the success of The Dinner Club Foundation. Since they donate their time, we allow them total and complete freedom in setting the menu. This allows them to focus on doing what they love and not accommodating the needs of a fussy client. It encourages them to tell the story of who they are and show off the passion they have for their craft.
Seating Is Assigned
Every guest at a Dinner Club Foundation event provides a short answer to the question "Why are you awesome?" This is used to place guests next to people with whom they are likely to have engaging and interesting conversations. By matching interests, we strive to achieve surprising connections between new potential friends. This process also eliminates friends or couples always sitting together, giving them an opportunity to meet and bond with new people.
